When it comes to his latest campaign, Donald Trump’s most recent tweet says “Dolly is one of the most dishonest people I have ever met” — a reference to actress Dolly Parton.
He also made reference to the actress’s recent appearance on “The View,” calling her “Dumbo.”
Trump, who was seen on camera at the 2016 Republican National Convention shaking hands with former President Barack Obama, made no mention of the actress during the event.
But during a campaign rally Wednesday in New Hampshire, Trump made a few veiled references to the former president.
“Davy, you know Dolly is so dishonest.
And she said, ‘Oh, he’s been to Dumbo.’
Dolly said, “Well, I don’t know about that, but he said ‘Dumbo.'”
The tweets, which were tweeted at 11:30 p.m.
EST on Wednesday, were posted from the campaign’s official account.
A copy of the tweet was obtained by BuzzFeed News and shows Trump calling Parton “Dumb and Dumber” and saying he will “get her on the phone to talk about Dolly.”
The tweet was also posted from a personal Twitter account.
Trump has said that he doesn’t remember the tweets, though the tweets did not appear to have been made during his campaign.
Parton is scheduled to appear on NBC’s “Today” show on Sunday.
A spokesperson for Parton did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
BuzzFeed News also reached out to Dolly’s publicist and did not receive a response.
I will always be grateful for your prayers, and will keep you in my prayers, I promise,” Parton wrote. “
My heart is broken and I’m so grateful that all of you know how much I miss my little sister Dolly.
I will always be grateful for your prayers, and will keep you in my prayers, I promise,” Parton wrote.
Trump’s campaign did not respond to BuzzFeed News’ request for an interview on Wednesday.
